Dr. Staples shares the impact that his cousin has on his life.
“As a child, my understanding of how we should all love one another and live together was clearly stated in the songs that my cousins, The Staple Singers, would sing. The Staple Singers were an integral part of The Civil Rights Movement. Mavis Staples continues the family legacy started by her father, Roebuck “Pops” Staples. Mavis’ song, “Build Bridges Instead of Walls” and “Build A Bridge” could be anthems for all of us to live by.”
